MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) - Spring is almost here! Cardiologist Dr. Shyla High stopped by Daybreak to tell us how we can spring into fitness and a longer life and share some heart healthy tips.
Dr. High said a healthy diet and exercise go hand in hand. She suggests men and women follow the ABCs of a healthy heart, which include eating avocados, blueberries, and dark chocolate. She says a heart healthy diet can include food that most people enjoy.
Dr. High said an hour of moderate activity adds four hours to your life. She suggests a brisk walk, which uses 200 muscles. Dr. High added exercise also improves blood pressure, lowers cholesterol, improves energy, mood, and sleep patterns.
