Talent Showcase "Macon the Stage" coming this summer

Residents in Macon will soon have an opportunity to showcase their talents.
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Soon Macon singers, dancers, actors and other artist will have a place to display their talent.

“Macon the Stage” which is a talent competition and showcase expo is scheduled to be held Friday, June 6, through Sunday June 8, at Shadows Interactive Dinner Theater, located at 438 Second St., in Macon.

“The event allows us to come together to appreciate and uncover the “hidden talent” in our communities,” said Shelton Land. “The goal is to increase interest in the arts within the next generations.”

Deangelos Barber has performed nationally on "Sunday's Best." Barber says the upcoming showcase will bridge a gap in the community.

"It will have an impact on our youth to give them something to do and you know to try to bring Macon together as a whole," said Barber. "Even though times are different we are still semi segregated. Even in our own neighborhoods, so I'm looking for this to be a game changer."

Barber says it is time for gifted and talented people to stop allowing their fear to keep them from performing.

"If it's your passion then it shouldn't be no problem," added Barber. "The same thing you're doing at home, you can get out there on that stage and do the exact same thing."
