FORSYTH, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Wednesday marked a fresh start in Forsyth as two city council newcomers were sworn in.
Greg Goolsby and Jimmy Jones took the oath of office at the start of the council meeting. The two men are taking over the vacant seats; just months after their predecessors were arrested. In September, former councilmen Desi Hansford and James Calloway pleaded guilty to accepting bribes while in office. The tone of tonight's swearing-in ceremony focused on a clean slate.
"It's been some issues in the last six to eight months, not with that issue, but also with budgets and cash flows and I've been coming to city council meetings for probably 3 months just trying to educate myself," Goolsby said.
"Things that have happened over the past recently with the city of Forsyth and it's elected officials and I just wanted to help bring back the respectability to the city council," Jones said.
