Rutland Handles Perry at Home, 91-72

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) - In a battle between two of the top teams in Class 4A, Region 2 Monday at Rutland High School, the Hurricanes prevailed, 91-72.

Jaylon Tyson had 18 points to lead the 'Canes (18-4, 9-3), and Shakenneth Williams added 16.  Williams will sign to football at the University of Georgia in a ceremony at the school Wednesday.

"He's gonna continue to play this season of basketball with us," says head basketball coach Ron Christian.  "Hopefully, he gets a chance to lead this team as a captain to the state championship."

Williams didn't take much credit for the team's big win.

"We played hard," the future Dawgs' wide receiver said.  "We came in and showed people, 'Hey, we can get the ball up and down the court,' that we can come back off a terrible loss.  Everybody played hard, everybody did their job, and our bench did well. Everybody came and played hard."

Perry falls to 14-9, 8-4 with the loss.
