Pounds of marijauna plants found in Gray home

Jones County Sheriff's Office discovers hundreds of the plants off of a rural road in Gray.
GRAY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) - The Jones County Sheriff's Office is trying to figure out who had hundreds of marijuana plants growing in their home.

Sheriff's deputies made the bust Tuesday afternoon. They estimate the cost to be somewhere near $100,000. Deputies got a tip from a nearby electrical company.

Jones County Sheriff Butch Reece says the irregular electrical activity led them to the house.

"Tri-County, our local electric company, contacted us in reference to some unusual occurences on the transformers. The last four days they've blown several transformers here," Reece said.

Reese says the sheriff's office is looking to find the owners of the house, saying it was recently purchased in January, and he expects an arrest to be made soon.

As for the marijuana, the plants will be burned at a nearby landfill.
