Congressional candidate Dr. Jody Hice stopped by Daybreak to talk about why he is running to represent District 10 in the U.S. House of Representatives.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) - Congressional candidate Dr. Jody Hice stopped by Daybreak to talk about why he is running to represent District 10 in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Hice calls himself a constitutional conservative. He believes we need to get back to the basics of the U.S Constitution. He said the more we reject the Constitution, the bigger the government gets and the fewer liberties we have.

Hice is a pastor and believes his past experience makes him qualified to represent Georgia's 10th District. He said he's been on the front lines of battle against the ACLU when it wanted to removed the 10 Commandments at the Barrow County Courthouse. He also fought against the IRS in regards to what can and cannot be said in churches.

Hice said he wants to repeal and replace Obamacare. He added the national debt is enormous and we must pass a balanced budget amendment. Hice said it is time to repeal the 16th amendment and abolish the IRS. He called the tax code as a whole “unjust.”

As far as jobs and economy, Hice is in favor of a free market enterprise. He said the government does not need to overburden people and businesses with taxations and regulations.

Early voting ends May 16. Primary election day is on May 20.
