COCHRAN, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Cochran officials are clearing the way for construction for the retail giant, Walmart to build a supercenter in town.
On Monday, city officials received site development plans for the proposed 69,179 square foot facility. The area of land is adjacent to the Shell gas station at the corner of U.S. Highway 23/87 and Georgia Highway 26 intersection, an area zoned for "retail use".
In a news release, Cochran Mayor Michael Stoy stated:
"The city's approval of the site development and architectural/structural plans does not guarantee that Walmart will construct the store. The city will advise the community once building permit applications are received from Walmart."
