MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) -- 2014 is a big year for NASA.  Five NASA missions launch this year, designed to obtain what NASA says is "critical data" about the Earth.  According to the agency, they take pictures of the Earth from space but would like our help in taking pictures from the ground! The plan is to make a video using the photos and an Earth mosaic image using what we submit to social media.  The social media sites NASA is monitoring for #GlobalSelfie submissions are Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Google+ and Flickr.

Amanda Castro and Marco La Manno obliged and took one from the studio.  We're putting it up on our Facebook and Twitter accounts with the hashtag #GlobalSelfie.  If you submit on Facebook, make sure that the picture is set to Public and not just Friends so NASA can see if you would like to participate!
