Macon-Bibb County Head Start held a luncheon, which featured guest speakers including State Senator David Lucas.

Head Start is a federally funded program that promotes preparing infants and toddlers for school.

More than 500 parents got a chance to hear from vendors partnering with the agency, such as Well Star Health System, and Appletree Learning Academy.

Kimberly Rainey is the Interim Early Head Start Director for Macon-Bibb County EOC. She says they are prepared to welcome their tiny students.

"Head start works and we look forward to enrolling more children,” says Rainey. “We have 809 slots and we are looking forward to seeing new faces and we are ready for the fall."

Rainey said the purpose of the luncheon was to inform Head Start parents about resources that are available, to make sure their children are successful.
