MGSC softball ends season with first losing record since 2004; Farmer, Twilley named to All-Conference team

Freshmen Hannah Twilley (Wayne County HS, Jesup, GA) and Carlie Farmer (Houston County HS, Warner Robins, GA) were named to the Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association (GCAA) All-Conference Second Team on Sunday.
COCHRAN, Georgia (MGSC ATHLETICS RELEASE) - Freshmen Hannah Twilley (Wayne County HS, Jesup, GA) and Carlie Farmer (Houston County HS, Warner Robins, GA) were named to the Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association (GCAA) All-Conference Second Team on Sunday.

Twilley, a third baseman, played in every inning of the teams 39 games--catching two innings--and in the line up as designated hitter for three games. She batted .379 for the season with a .438 on base percentage (OBP) and .639 slugging percentage (SLG), which was good for 3rd in the GCAA. Twilley had 7 homeruns and 8 doubles on the year.

Farmer, an outfielder, played in 37 of the Knights 39 games, leading the team and finishing second in the GCAA with a .403 batting average, while also leading the team in hits (54) and stolen bases (14).

The Knights finished their season at 18-21, missing the GCAA playoffs for just the second time in the last 10 years and recording their first losing record since 2004.

Other highlights from the season include freshman Sarah Bennetts (.395) finishing 3rd in the GCAA in Batting Average. Bennetts (.471) and sophomore Kayla Bawkin (.459) finished 2nd and 5th, respectively, in OBP in the GCAA. Finally, after missing the 2013 season with an ACL tear, former Bleckley County High standout Lana Maddox finished the season 3rd in the GCAA in homeruns with nine, including hitting one in the first and last games of the season.
