MACON, Ga. (MERCER ATHLETICS RELEASE) – For the first time this season and the eighth time in program history, the Mercer baseball team has received a national ranking as it debuted as the No. 24 team in the Baseball America Top-25 poll on Monday afternoon.

Mercer (34-11, 16-5 A-Sun) is currently No. 21 in the ratings percentage index (RPI) and is tied with SEC power South Carolina for the sixth-most wins in the country.

The Bears were ranked during seven different weeks last season, reaching as high as No. 23 in the USA Today Coaches’ poll. This is the second-ever appearance for Mercer in the Baseball America Top-25 poll, after checking at No. 25 in the rankings during the last week of the 2013 regular season.

In addition to the Baseball America ranking, Mercer is also receiving votes in the USA Today Coaches’ poll and National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) poll for the fifth and sixth time this season, respectively.

Mercer is off all of this week due to final exams and won't return to the diamond until May 6, when it travels to Gainesville for a match-up against No. 5 Florida.
