Mercer professors get 'pied' for local nonprofit

Mercer professors volunteered to take a pie to the face Thursday, to raise money for local nonprofit, Jay's Hope.
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) -- If you've ever had the urge to throw a pie in your teacher's face, you're not alone!

Thursday, Mercer students got the chance to pie some of their professors to raise money for Jay's Hope.

Pre-health clubs Alpha Epsilon Delta, MerPMed, and SNMA-MAPS, hosted the fundraiser for the nonprofit which provides a support system for families whose children are going through treatment for cancer.

"They help out with all the little things that you need like housing, and money to get gas to get to where you need to be for treatments and such. So they're a great organization, and we're happy to help them out," said Heather Cutman Bowman, Biology Professor, Mercer University.

Bowan was one of the brave professors who stuck her face out to get "pied."

Students donated one dollar or more per pie, and that also put their name in a raffle.
