The Mercer men’s golf team learned its fate for the upcoming NCAA Regionals on Monday morning, as it was announced that the Bears would head to Raleigh, N.C. to compete as the No. 5 seed at Lonnie Poole Golf Course from May 15-17.
MACON, Ga. (MERCER ATHLETICS RELEASE) – The Mercer men’s golf team learned its fate for the upcoming NCAA Regionals on Monday morning, as it was announced that the Bears would head to Raleigh, N.C. to compete as the No. 5 seed at Lonnie Poole Golf Course from May 15-17.

Mercer captured the Atlantic Sun Conference’s automatic qualifier by virtue of its tournament victory at the A-Sun Championships on April 22. The Bears are set to join 12 other teams at the Raleigh Regional, with the low five teams advancing to the finals at Prairie Dunes Country Club in Hutchinson, Kansas on May 23-28.

Joining Mercer in Raleigh are Georgia Tech, Washington, Florida State, Texas A&M, Kentucky, Texas Tech, Wake Forest, South Alabama, Memphis, Minnesota, Rice and Bethune Cookman.

The Bears will travel to Raleigh for the Regional’s practice round on May 14 before pairing up with Texas A&M and Kentucky for an 8:20 start off the 10th tee on May 16.
While Mercer’s trip to the NCAA Regionals is a first for the program, multiple Mercer golfers have experience in NCAA Regional play. In 2012, James Beale was selected as an at-large participant in the Athens Regional. Last season, Trey Rule and Hans Reimers each garnered at-large selections to the Tallahassee Regional.
