Macon Transit Authority's Citizen's Advisory Committee could undergo changes

Changes to the Macon Transit Authority's Citizen's Advisory Committee could be coming soon.
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) - Changes to the Macon Transit Authority's Citizen's Advisory Committee could be coming soon.

A new bylaw could mean Macon-Bibb officials appointing members to the CAC rather than citizens volunteering for the job.

The committee is meant to give citizens a voice in MTA's decisions.

Those decisions often include thousands of dollars in taxes for road improvement plans.

The committee met Wednesday night to discuss the proposed changes.

"I think everybody on the CAC as it now stands found that not to be the best way to represent the citizens was for political--elected officials to appoint different citizens to the CAC," said Vice Chairman of the CAC, Nick Pietrzak.

The CAC will meet next week to put together an alternative plan to the proposed changes.
