Macon man survives armed robbery attempt

Larry Womack, and his wife sat on their front porch Saturday night to find an unexpected visitor approach them.
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) - The Bibb County Sheriff's Office is investigating an armed robbery that took place on the 1400 block of Walker Road on Saturday around 11:00 p.m. 

According to reports, Larry Womack and his wife, Carole Womack were sitting on their porch when an unknown male approached them carrying a black semi-automatic handgun demanding money. 

Womack took hold of the suspect; however, the gunman broke free fleeing from the scene taking the home owner's cell phone.

The suspect eventually dropped the phone as he ran away before deputies arrived to the scene. 

Womack suffered from minor scrapes and bruises.

Deputies say the suspect was last seen wearing a blue jump suit, with a low haircut. He took off near Rice Mill Road.
