MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) - A Macon couple says their dog Honey is the hero in a Saturday night armed robbery.

Around 11:00 p.m. Saturday, an armed robber approached Larry and Caol Womack while they sat on their front porch demanding the two go inside their home on Walker Road in west Macon, and give him money.

The homeowners say they felt the gunman had intentions of killing the them, which is why Larry resisted to walk inside the home.

Carol says when she opened the front door Honey charged at the robber attacking his leg, which gave Larry the opportunity to wrestle the unknown man for his gun.

"I'm glad she done it. If I hadn't of grabbed him by the leg I don't know if I would've went for the gun or not...but I wasn't going in that house," says Larry.

He adds, "If he'd took us in that house he was gone kill us, ain't no doubt. You could see it in his eyes."
