Kingston aims to lower gas prices and promote energy independence

U.S. Senate republican candidate Jack Kingston stops in Macon to push for energy independence.
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) - Runoffs for primary elections are closing in and republican candidate Jack Kingston is setting his sights on figuring how to lower gas prices.

The longtime congressman spoke to supporters at a Flash Foods gas station in Macon.

Kingston also mentioned he wants the country to become more energy dependent.

"We've passed a number of bills in the House that are sitting at Harry Reid's desk, waiting for Senate action. When I'm a member of the U.S. Senate we will take action on these bills," Kingston said.

He's up against businessman David Perdue in the runoff on July 22nd.
