Gordon Mayor Whipple-Lue to return to office on Wednesday

Mary Whipple-Lue is slated to return to work after a temporary restraining order was issued to remove her from office.
GORDON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) - Gordon mayor Mary Ann Whipple-Lue is expected to return back to her mayoral duties on Wednesday after being ousted for several weeks because of a temporary restraining order.

The State Court of Appeals granted the motion preventing a hearing to suspend her from office.

The Concerned Citizens of Gordon asked the same court to rethink that decision with by filing a ‘motion to reconsider.’

The group’s lawyer, Devlin Cooper hopes to have a ruling on the motion for reconsideration, but the turn around time for the court to make a decision normally takes longer than an emergency motion would, which is 24 hours.

If Cooper and the citizens are not successful, they plan to file more appeals.

The official trial date is set for August 1st. However, all appeals have to be taken care through the court system before a trial can take place.
