Georgia's First Lady Reads to Macon Students

Sandra Deal stops in Macon to share story with kids.
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) -- Georgia's first lady made a stop in Macon Tuesday to encourage kids to pick up books.

Sandra Deal spent the morning at Morgan Elementary where she read the book, "Who I'd Like to Be," to preschoolers and kindergarteners.

Mrs. Deal said she shared that story with the students because it's interactive. She also hopes it encourages kids to turn to reading for knowledge.

"We want them not just to call words, we want them to really understand that there are questions and answers in books, and they can learn those answers if they just read," said Deal.

The principal of Morgan Elementary said Mrs. Deal's visit was a great opportunity for the students to meet her. A lot of the kids do not get to travel to Atlanta to meet the governor or his wife.
