GBI investigating Bibb Deputy-involved shooting in Village Green

The GBI is investigating a Bibb deputy involved shooting in the Village Green neighborhood.
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) -- The GBI is investigating a second officer-involved shooting Thursday in Macon's Village Green neighborhood.

According to Deputy Clay Williams with the Bibb County Sheriff's Office, around 6 p.m., members of the H.E.A.T. unit were conducting a traffic stop on Bloomfield Road when witnesses say the man in the car pulled out a gun.

Williams said shots were fired but would not say if the deputies or the man in the car fired shots.

Then, Williams said the man drove off and in the 5700 block of Satterfield Drive, he jumped out of his car and ran off.

Deputies eventually caught up with the suspect.

Williams said the man was injured and taken to the Medical Center of Central Georgia where he's in stable condition.

41NBC asked Sheriff David Davis about the gunshots.

"Well that's what we're looking into," said Davis. "GBI will look into all that as to exactly how many shots, who shot, those kinds of things--that's part of the GBI's view into things that they'll be looking into."

Davis said the officer will be put on administrative leave until the investigation is complete.
