FVSU's Sammy Jackson, Brandon Davey receive GABCA all-state awards

Fort Valley State University's Head Men's Basketball Coach Sammy Jackson was awarded the All-State Coach of the Year Award, Brandon Davey was named to the All-State First Team and Joshuah Davis was named Honorable Mention, as announced by the Georgia Basketball Coaches Association this week.
FORT VALLEY, Georgia (FVSU RELEASE) - Fort Valley State University's Men's Basketball Coach Sammy Jackson was awarded the All-State Coach of the Year Award, Brandon Davey was named to the All-State First Team and Joshuah Davis was named Honorable Mention by the Georgia Basketball Coaches Association this week.

Jackson led his basketball program to the best season ever at FVSU with an overall record of 21-9 and 15-3 in the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC), while claiming the SIAC Eastern Division Title and runner-up in the SIAC tournament.

The GABCA sponsors a year-end All-State honor roll for each association within the membership.  All divisions (NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, NAIA, NCCAA and Junior Colleges) will have their own separate All-State team with an additional compilation of Honorable Mention honorees.

Additionally, each division is awarded one Player of the Year, one Coach of the Year and one Newcomer of the Year Award.

The GABCA also awards an All-Academic team and the student-athletes must maintain a 3.0 cumulative GPA in order to be eligible.
