FVSU's LeRon Furr named To BSN 2014 D2 All-American 1st Team

Senior linebacker LeRon Furr (6-3, 245) from Columbus, Georgia (Oklahoma State) was named to the 2014 BSN D2 All-America Football First Team as announced by Beyond Sports Network (BSN).
FORT VALLEY, GA (FVSU ATHLETICS RELEASE) – Senior linebacker LeRon Furr (6-3, 245) from Columbus, Georgia (Oklahoma State) was named to the 2014 BSN D2 All-America Football First Team as announced by Beyond Sports Network (BSN).

Furr was named to the 2013 SIAC All-Conference and HBCU D2 All-American Teams, after playing in 10 games for the Wildcats in 2013, while leading the team in tackles with 80 (33 solos), 22.5 tackles-for-loss (83 yards), 6.5 sacks (57 yards), 3 pass break-ups, 9 quarterback hurries, 3 recovered fumbles and 2 forced fumbles. Furr ranked 1st in the NCAA in tackle-for-loss and 15th in fumbles recovered and 6th in the SIAC in tackles, 1st in tackle-for-loss, 5th in sacks, 47th pass defended, 2nd fumbles recovered and 7th in fumbles forced. For his career, he has played in 21 games, rushed one time, passed twice, forced 3 fumbles, 183 tackles, 52 tackles-for-loss (187 yards) and racked up 13 sacks (98 yards).


The 2014 Preseason All-America Football Team was chosen based on returning All Americans from the 2013 BSN All-America Football Team, highest vote recipients in the 2013 BSN All-American voting, statistics, and game evaluations. The 2013 BSN All-American team was selected based on votes by college sports information directors and college coaches.
