FPD hires Holly Scott as head girls cross country coach

FPD has named Holly Scott as its next head girls cross country coach, announced Friday, May 16 in a team meeting.

MACON, Ga. (FPD ATHLETICS RELEASE) FPD has named Holly Scott as its next head girls cross country coach, announced Friday, May 16 in a team meeting.

She begins her duties immediately, as former head coach April Cassell announced her intention not to return earlier in May.

I am looking forward to continuing the excellent program that Coach Cassell built for the last several years,” Scott said. “I love the family atmosphere in FPD’s cross country program and am excited to be a part of program that is well-thought of by the faculty and administration.”

FPD Athletic Director Greg Moore said giving Scott the opportunity was an easy decision.

Holly is very familiar with our program,” Moore said. “She understands the role our head coach plays in leading our runners. The girls will enjoy working with her.”

Scott is no stranger to the FPD campus, having served the last 15 years as a teacher and most recently as Community Service Director. During that time she has also been the head middle school cross country coach and assistant swim coach.

I have loved getting students excited about running and good fitness,” Scott said. “I am thankful for this opportunity given to me by Headmaster Gregg Thompson and Coach Moore.”

A graduate of Clearwater High School in Florida, Scott competed in cross country and track before graduating from Vanderbilt.

The Lady Vikings qualified for the GHSA Class-A State Meet in 2013, winning the Area Championship for the fourth consecutive season.
