Fort Valley State welcomes prospective students

Prospective students flooded into Fort Valley State University Saturday for the school's open house.
FORT VALLEY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) - Prospective students flooded into Fort Valley State University Saturday for the school's open house.

The celebration to welcome the students included a message from Fort Valley Mayor Barbara Williams.

Greek organizations performed step routines as well.

It gave the university a chance to showcase its academic achievements and extracurricular activities.

Calandra Wright is the assistant director of admissions, and she says Fort Valley is a great place for students to learn.

"Our Greek Life is very active here on campus, and we want to let students know that college is more than books and exams, it's an experience and it's a lot of fun," said Wright. "It prepares them for a successful life."

Wright went on to say the admission deadline for F-V-S-U is in June, so if you want to apply, be sure to do it soon.
