Forsyth Mayor says Heaven Woods death "hurts"

GBI Medical Examiners say Heaven died of blunt force trauma.
Forsyth, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) -A Forsyth Community is still trying to come to terms with a young girl dying in their neighborhood.

Little Heaven Woods died allegedly at the hands of the people who were suppose to be looking out for the five-year-old.

Heaven was found unconscious inside a house located at, 374 Brookwood Drive, in Forsyth.

Her mother 33-year-old Amanda Hendrickson and 34-year-old Roderick Buckner are charged in the homicide case.

An autopsy shows Heaven died of blunt force trauma to her stomach. GBI medical examiners also say she had multiple new and old injuries.

Forsyth Mayor John Howard lives just doors down from where the incident happened and says he's known Buckner for years.

"It hurts my heart because, I mean I'm 43 and Roderick's younger than I am,” says Mayor Howard. "If this is all true, this is a young man, whose life is about to be turned around, for the worst with no future and that's just not good."

Additional charges for Hendrickson and Buckner are pending in the homicide investigation.

They are being held in the Monroe County Justice Center without bond.
