Deputies seize thousands of dollars worth of marijuana in Jones County grow house

About a dozen Jones County sheriff's deputies cleared out a marijuana grow house on Morris Stevens Road.
JONES COUNTY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) - Sheriff's deputies are trying to track down who's behind a grow house filled with marijuana.

Deputies were at a house around 2pm clearing out about $80,000 worth of marijuana on Morris Stevens Road.

It's the second bust the sheriff's office has made in the last four months.

Sheriff Butch Reece says Friday's bust is larger than the last bust, and he thinks they're both connected.

"It appears that a lot of people out of Florida are coming into Georgia, the middle Georgia area, and setting up these drug houses," Reece said.

There was even a shed behind the house for prepping marijuana plants and some growing equipment.

Reece says he and his staff were tipped a few months back about the grow house.

He added deputies are working with other police agencies to catch the suspects.
