FORT VALLEY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A Crawford County man was shot in his yard while fighting with two assailants.
Georgia Bureau of Investigation Special Agent, Jospeh Ricketson said the shooting happened Friday around 10 p.m., on Union Church Road.
Jack Cameron, 68, had just arrived home from Macon, when he was approached by two men he did not know. They both hand hand guns, according to Ricketson.
The men argued, then began fighting in the front yard, and Cameron was shot.
“During the struggle the projectle went through both legs and exited,” said J.T Ricketson. Cameron received bruises and abrasions as a result of the fight.
The two suspects robbed him and took off.
Crawford County Sheriff's Office investigators were called around 10:20 p.m.
Cameron was taken to the hospital. He was released on Sunday.
A GBI Crime Scene Specialist, went to home Sunday and return again on Monday looking for more evidence, and leads.
Ricketson said even though outside crime scenes are subject to deteriorate due to weather they wanted to make sure GBI and Crawford County investigators had not overlooked any evidence.
“We have some pretty good leads in this case,” said Ricketson.
