Community Health Works Talks About Skin Cancer Risks, Prevention Tips

Some students across Middle Georgia are on spring break and with the summer only months away, many of us are gearing up to enjoy the beautiful sunny weather. But before you go outdoors, you have to take steps to protect yourself. Maggie McCune from Community Health Works stopped by Daybreak to tell us more about skin cancer.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Some students across Middle Georgia are on spring break and with the summer only months away, many of us are gearing up to enjoy the beautiful sunny weather. But before you go outdoors, you have to take steps to protect yourself. Maggie McCune from Community Health Works stopped by Daybreak to tell us more about skin cancer.

McCune said skin cancer is the most common form of cancer in the United States. She added most common types of skin cancer are highly curable and that melanoma is more dangerous and causes the most deaths.

McCune went on to talk about some general risk factors and what you can do to reduce your risk of developing skin cancer.
