MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Central Georgia Health System said it reached an agreement with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Georgia.
The deadline to reach a contract agreement was Friday at midnight. According to a statement from the Medical Center of Central Georgia,
“Central Georgia Health Network has come to an agreement with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Georgia for both the physician and the hospital contracts, protecting in network status for Central Georgia Health System and its affiliates. A notice of extension has been signed through Wednesday, April 30, 2014, to finalize contract language.”
"It's always a challenge. What both sides have to ultimately consider is the patient is the one that we're both doing this for, and that we have to find some common ground," Rhonda Perry, the CFO of the Medical Center said.
Perry says the recent contract negotiations will not affect patient care.
Officials are working out the kinks of the contract.
The new contract is expected begin Thursday May 1st.
