Bibb BOE previews budget for upcoming year

The Bibb County Board of Education is talking money, and you know what that means--it's budget season for the district.
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) - The Bibb County Board of Education is talking money, and you know what that means--it's budget season for the district.

So far, the budget as put together by Chief Financial Officer Ron Collier has no furlough days for teachers this upcoming year.

While that may not end up in the final budget, Collier said right now that's the recommendation he's putting forth.

Collier presented his second part of a two-part presentation on what the district spends for the budget tonight.

This part covers the salary and benefits side, which is nearly 90% of what the board spends each year.

"Administrative staff, in terms of central office personnel, and also to talk about what that converts to in terms of dollars," said Collier. "The purpose this time was really salary benefits and staff."

"I think we've been very frugal and very careful about looking at our expenditures and how the money's being spent," said Board President Sue Sipe.

Sipe also commended Collier and his staff for the hard work they've put forth so far on the budget.
