Civitan Club donates money to Baldwin County Fire Department for smoke detectors
MILLEDGEVILLE, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) - A civic organization is doing what it can to save lives in its community.

The Baldwin County and Milledgeville Civitan Club donated $1500 to the Baldwin County Fire Department.

Baldwin County Fire Chief Troy Reynolds says the money will be used to purchase smoke detectors for homes of people who cannot afford the devices.

The Civitans say they wanted to work with the county's fire department to help the less fortunate.

“One of the reasons for the project was because we found out that over 100 people in Georgia die every year from home fires," says Darrell Black. "We're hoping that dose not happen in Baldwin County."

If you are interested in knowing how you can get a free smoke detector for your home call the Baldwin County fire department at 478-445-4421.
