SANDY SPRINGS, Ga. (AP) — Authorities are investigating a fire that heavily damaged a $1.3 million home in Sandy Springs, just north of Atlanta.
Fire officials say five people and their dogs were able to escape the fire early Thursday morning.
WSB-TV reports (http://bit.ly/1mBXagE) that firefighters were still dealing with small flare ups around 4:30 a.m. Thursday, but most of the fire had been extinguished.
A fire battalion chief said he believes the fire started near two decks on the back side of the house.
