CHARLOTTE, NC - ESPN will use split screens in commercial breaks during its broadcast of NASCAR's 10-race Chase for the Sprint Cup championship.
The feature is called "NASCAR NonStop" and was unveiled Tuesday.
The network will feature a split-screen format during commercial breaks with the advertisement on the left side of the screen and racing on the right side. ESPN says its scoring ticker will continue to move across the top of the screen during breaks.
The feature will begin at the halfway point of the races. The first half of the race will feature traditional commercial breaks.
ESPN officials say the feature has been in the works for months and is unrelated to Fox's use of a split screen during the final commercial break of Sunday's race.
