STARKVILLE, Miss. (AP) - Mississippi State freshman quarterback Nick Schuessler has decided to leave the football program. The 6-foot-4, 190-pound Schuessler was a late signee from Loganville, Ga., and was enrolled in summer school at Mississippi State.
His departure leaves the Bulldogs with just two scholarship quarterbacks for the upcoming season - junior Tyler Russell and redshirt freshman Dak Prescott.
Mississippi State spokesman Joe Galbraith confirmed Schuessler would not be with the team in the fall.
Schuessler led Grayson High School to a 15-0 record and Class 5A Georgia State Championship his senior season, throwing for 1,853 yards and 20 touchdowns while also rushing for 297 yards and five touchdowns.
