FLOWERY BRANCH, GA - Excuse Kelvin Hayden if his head is spinning.
He's buried his head in a new playbook. He's trying to become familiar with different terminology. He's struggling to learn everyone's name.
Hayden is one of two experienced defensive backs signed last week by the Atlanta Falcons to bolster their thin secondary. The other is safety James Sanders, who landed with the team under similar circumstances.
Both were let go elsewhere more for salary cap reasons than their performance on the field. Hayden is a cornerback who starred for Indianapolis in the Colts' Super Bowl win in 2007. Sanders is coming off a career-high three interceptions for New England. They'll both get a shot at extensive playing time in Atlanta.
