ATLANTA - The Atlanta Braves have bolstered their bullpen following consecutive extra-inning victories, recalling right-hander Anthony Varvaro from Triple-A Gwinnett.
Outfielder Wilkin Ramirez was optioned to Gwinnett before Thursday's game against Pittsburgh.
The 26-year-old Varvaro appeared in four games with Seattle in 2010 and was claimed by the Braves off waivers on Jan. 13. He was 2-6 with a 2.66 ERA in 33 games with Gwinnett.
The Braves beat the Pirates in 19 innings Tuesday night, then won 2-1 in 10 innings on Wednesday night.
