AMERICUS, GA - Kansas City Chiefs tight end Leonard Pope says he wants to help young people learn to swim through his foundation after a Georgia mother credited him with saving her son from drowning in a swimming pool.
Pope was reunited with Anne Moore and her 6-year-old son Bryson at a small ceremony Sunday in Americus. Moore thanked the athlete for diving in after Bryson when he went under the water during a June 11 pool party in the south Georgia town.
Pope told the Albany Herald that he wants Bryson to look at the rescue as a chance to learn how to swim.
Pope also said that he wants to spread the message of the importance of learning to swim through his foundation, the Creating Hope and Making Progress (CHAMP) Foundation.
