HOOVER, AL - A throwing error by Auburn shortstop Casey McElroy allowed Georgia to score two runs in a three-run sixth inning, giving the Bulldogs a 3-2 comeback victory Thursday that eliminated the Tigers from the Southeastern Conference baseball tournament.
The loss left Auburn (29-29) with a non-winning record, meaning they are ineligible for the NCAA tournament. The win kept the NCAA tournament chances alive for the Bulldogs (29-29). They will play on Friday the loser of Thursday's Vanderbilt-South Carolina game.
McElroy hit a fourth-inning home run to give Auburn a 1-0 lead. Tony Caldwell followed with a double and later scored on a Georgia error.
An RBI double by Zach Cone cut the lead to 2-1. McElroy's error let Kyle Farmer and Cone score.
