Georgia County Amends Cars-For-Sale Ordinance

JONESBORO, GA - The Clayton County Board of Commissioners has amended a county ordinance that bans people from parking a car for sale in a public right-of-way to grant exemptions to owners of used car dealerships.

Officials report that Maj. Ken Green, the Clayton County Police Department's legal adviser, says the purpose of the ordinance is to stop unlicensed dealers from using public streets as car lots.

Green and commission Chairman Eldrin Bell also say the amendment approved Tuesday brings balance between new car sales lots, who already had an exemption, and used car sales lots, which did not previously have the same benefit.
