A man accused of killing two Japanese visitors and injuring a dozen others after crashing his car and stabbing people in a major tourist district in Guam has been arrested.

Authorities said Wednesday they've arrested and charged Chad Ryan Desoto of Tamuning on two counts of murder and 13 counts of attempted murder.

Guam police spokesman A.J. Balajadia says officers responded Tuesday night to a report of a man driving a Toyota Yaris onto a sidewalk and striking seven tourists at a shopping area at the Outrigger Guam Resort.

Investigators say the driver continued on the sidewalk, crashing into the wall of a convenience store. He then left his car and started stabbing people.

A Japanese Foreign Ministry official says local police told the Japanese consulate 14 Japanese were taken to the hospital, and two had died.
