ATLANTA (AP) - Vehicle impound fees are being waived for some metro Atlanta drivers who became stranded during a winter storm earlier this week.
Atlanta police said in a statement Thursday that drivers of vehicles that were impounded by the department after the storm Tuesday will be given a credit form and case number they can present to the wrecker service to retrieve their vehicle at no cost.
DeKalb County officials say they've also reached out to towing companies operating in the county and have asked them to waive fees for drivers who became stranded.
Officials say drivers who abandoned vehicles in DeKalb County have until midnight Friday to reclaim them from towing lots. Five companies the county has established partnerships with include: Cymil; Brown and Brown; South DeKalb; Statewide and S&W.
