ATLANTA (AP) - University system officials say Arthur Dunning has been named interim president of Albany State University.
Dunning recently served as vice chancellor for international programs and outreach for the University of Alabama system in Tuscaloosa. He previously spent 27 years working for the University System of Georgia. Dunning also served as vice president for public service and outreach at the University of Georgia.
Chancellor Hank Huckaby says Dunning has a "long and distinguished track record in higher education" and praised his leadership skills.
Dunning is set to begin Dec. 2. He replaces Everette J. Freeman, who stepped down last month to become the next president of the Community College of Denver.
