GAINESVILLE, Georgia (AP) - A jury in Gainesville is deliberating in the trial of a man charged in a boating accident on Lake Lanier that killed two boys.
The jury continued deliberating the fate of Paul Bennett on Thursday. He's charged with homicide by vessel, failure to render aid, reckless operation and boating under the influence.
Authorities say Bennett's fishing boat collided with the front of a pontoon boat on June 18, 2012, killing 9-year-old Jake Prince and 13-year-old Griffin Prince.
The judge presiding over the trial removed a member of the jury from the case after they used the Internet to try finding out more about legal penalties Bennett could potentially face.
Bennett's attorney said the wreck was an accident. Prosecutors say Bennett was boating while intoxicated.
