NASHVILLE, Georgia (AP) - Authorities say a 38-year-old man has been charged with two counts of vehicular homicide after crashing into another car during a police chase.
Georgia State Patrol officials say Israel Timothy Rutland, of Tifton, is charged in the deaths of 23-year-old Matthew Dean Horton and 32-year-old Kelly Marie Prescott, who were killed on Tuesday.
State patrol officials have said the two were hit by Rutland's truck as he eluded police. Trooper Richard Kennedy says another woman also suffered non-life threatening injuries and is hospitalized in Tallahassee, Fla.
Authorities say Rutland broke his back in the crash and is hospitalized in Macon. It's unclear if he has an attorney. Authorities say Rutland was wanted by sheriff's officials in nearby Tift County for a hit and run crash last week.
