HEPHZIBAH, Georgia (AP) - Richmond County Sheriff's officials say a 19-year-old man has been charged with involuntary manslaughter after a gun he thought was unloaded discharged and fatally wounded his close friend.
Sheriff's officials told sourcres that 18-year-old Delarrion Smith was giving his friend, 19-year-old Dominique Sullivan, a ride when the two began playing around in the car.
Authorities say Sullivan pulled his gun on Smith, removed the magazine and pulled the trigger thinking the gun was unloaded. Smith was shot in his chest and later died at Georgia Regents Medical Center.
According to jail records, Sullivan is being held on $15,800 bond. Sullivan is also charged with possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime and pointing a firearm at another person.
It's unclear if Sullivan has an attorney.
