BRUNSWICK, Ga. (AP) - Two defense experts say there must have been more than one killer in the beating deaths of eight people slain inside a Georgia mobile home. Forensic pathologist Dr. Jonathan Arden and criminologist Michael Knox testified Tuesday at the trial of 26-year-old Guy Heinze Jr. in Brunswick. Heinze could receive a death sentence if he's of the August 2009 slayings of his father and seven extended family members.
Knox says crime scene photos indicate more than one attacker using different blunt weapons. Arden says he doesn't believe Heinze alone could have slain so many people without them being tied up or held at gunpoint. Prosecutors have told jurors they don't have to decide whether Heinze acted alone. But police have said for years they believe he killed all eight victims single-handedly.
