SAVANNAH, Georgia (AP) - A Georgia woman charged with concealing the death of man whose partial remains were found in a storage unit in South Carolina has been arrested in Florida.
Effingham County Sheriff's spokesman David Ehsanipoor said Friday that Moretz violated conditions of her bond by leaving the state and investigators are looking into the possibility she was there to avoid trial next month.
Moretz's attorney Michael Schiavone says she went to Florida for the holiday weekend and was coming back. He says Moretz has been preparing for trial, and called her prosecution a "miscarriage of justice." He says Moretz was abused by her husband and threatened with death on numerous occasions.
Authorities believe Moretz's husband, Chad, killed and dismembered 35-year-old Charles Ray. Chad Moretz was killed in a police standoff.
