ATLANTA (AP) - Police say they've apprehended a suspect in the shooting death of a man near Underground Atlanta, a downtown shopping and entertainment complex.
Atlanta police Officer John Chafee said early Tuesday that 25-year-old Brandon Barnes of Stone Mountain faces a murder charge and was being held in the Fulton County Jail. Jail records do not indicate whether he has an attorney.
The man who was killed was shot several times during a dispute with another person Monday afternoon, and was later pronounced dead at Grady Memorial Hospital. Chafee said the victim and the suspect argued inside the shopping complex before the dispute escalated to gunfire once they were outside.
Chafee said investigators had been speaking with Barnes to determine whether he was involved and eventually obtained probable cause for a murder charge.
