ATLANTA (AP) - Rising tea party star Ted Cruz is scheduled to speak tonight to a national group of Republican women.
The Texas senator took office in January and already is speculated to be a potential presidential candidate in 2016. He headlines a list of speakers at a Friday evening dinner for the National Federation of Republican Women.
Cruz was in Iowa earlier Friday. Iowa hosts the first caucuses in the presidential nomination process.
The senator is an outspoken critic of the Obama administration.
During his first few months in the Senate, Cruz already has been to South Carolina, which hosts the first presidential primary in the South. He's scheduled to visit New Hampshire, the first primary state nationally, next month.
