COLLEGE PARK, Md. (AP) - Michelle Obama will speak to roughly 600 graduating seniors from Bowie State University.
The first lady was invited by the school to speak at Friday's commencement ceremony. Bowie State is a nearly 150-year-old historically black institution in the Washington suburbs with 5,400 students.
The commencement was moved to the University of Maryland's flagship College Park campus to accommodate an expected crowd of more than 10,000. It will be held at Comcast Center, the school's basketball arena.
President Barack Obama and the first lady have been supportive of historically black colleges and universities. Michelle Obama has previously delivered commencement speeches at the University of Arkansas-Pine Bluff, Spelman College and North Carolina A&T.
